{Morning Thoughts} Throw back Sunday ..is that a thing?....anyway came across this video from Every Mother Counts made around 2010, about the Easy Access Clinic back in the day. So many old friends and faces, so many of you that have helped build and solidify this work - thank you - and especially thanks to Christy Turlington Burns for your listening, for your foresight, and for your willingness to come to Florida and document our story as you were documenting yours. The Easy Access Women's Health Clinic may have to be on the move again but it is NOT going away!! ... See more

{Morning Thoughts} What a week! There are times when I wonder, how much more we can endure, how many additional obstacles need to be overcome, what new convolution of unhappy events may befall us next?

We are strongly on mission, we are bursting at the seams, new appointments are booked out for weeks, moms waiting anxiously in the wings to get started. Our current patients are patient and understanding of our staff shortages and our unanswered phones. No, the problem is not the clinic or its services, or even the capacity really - we are all used to that; it is the wearing away of the morale of myself and the staff, the constant having to circumvent, reinvent, 'McGyver' our way around ALL the deeply entrenched systemic hurdles - supporting the hurt and bewildered moms and families trying to navigate through, the unethical and unequal treatment received, the arbitrary dismissal and 'invisibl-izing' of pregnant women, the explaining, excusing, even condoning of what is so.........yes, I AM TIRED.

I'm not afraid of a fight by any means, particularly when it comes to the moms and babies under my care..........but on so many fronts, barrier after barrier keeps popping up. This week's final straw was the ceiling falling in at the #EasyAccessClinic due to the landlord's ongoing unwillingness to fix the roof. We have exam rooms with puddles in the roof and sagging ceiling tiles, and absolutely nothing but lip service and empty promises from his staff. Interesting, huh?

We will find a way, we always do. In the meantime I have adopted a new anthem - grateful for the musical talent that is Joshuah Brian Campbell and the gift of this amazing song. I was just about to give up..........! ~ Jennie

SING OUT, MARCH ON!
Well I marched through the storm, and I marched through the rain.
And I marched through some sickness and some heartache and pain.
And I laid on the ground, and I looked up at the sky,
and I prayed to Lord up above and asked why.

But oh no, I'm not tired, I'm not through marching yet, and I'ma march until I die, oh children: this you can bet.

I'm gonna sing out, I'm gonna march on.

Oh, well my grandaddy marched, and my grandmomma too.
And I never thought it'd be something that I'd have to do.
But I'll march if I must. I'm on a mission, you see.
And I'll be damned if my children have to march for me.

Now, I believe in the power of raising my voice.
And I believe in the power of making some noise.
If I die I can't sing, and if I can't sing I'll die.
So we can sing for one another now let's give it a try.

I'm gonna sing out, I'm gonna march on.

Keep sharing - #postpartumdepression is a huge problem, misunderstood and severely under resourced. Perinatal professionals need training & compassion. American families let down by a system that centers $$$, not patients, once again. #ItsTimeToTellTheTruth https://t.co/I2HgYLMyZX ... See more

I believe in outpatient OB and clinic-based care, access to and navigating of the front desk IS the difference between life and death. We also need a ‘Perinatal Egalitarian Culture’ across the board, period. STAT #MaternalHealth #AmericanMothersAreDying #ItsTimeToTellTheTruth https://t.co/WFpC4b7jCc ... See more
